TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) Meadows Rlementary geared up this morning for their 4th Annual "Fit Day."
The event honors a concrete track that was donated in 2008 from the Topeka Junior League.
Over 600 students, teachers and volunteers had the chance to enjoy a mile run through the streets of their school neighborhood!
Even though the day started out warm and humid, it didn't stop the children from turning in some impressive results.
"We had a 5 minute and 35 second mile as far as a could tell and about four that ran sub 6 minute miles," says volunteer Lisa Regnier.
The streets were safely blocked off by police and the Topeka High School Marching Band provided music and entertainment for the students as they crossed the finished line.
