TOPEKA, Kan (WIBW)__ Mayetta residents had a reason to celebrate Saturday in an old fashioned way.
Today marked 20 years of the annual Mayetta Pioneer Day. Families got to enjoy things like free covered wagon rides, train rides for the kids and a live auction.
Biscuits and gravy were served early Satruday morning at the Methodist Church and DJ Dave Van Meter flooded Mayetta with music.
Other live music and entertainment was provided by Brad Hamilton who played from noon till 2:45 p.m.
Participants also enjoyed turtle races and yes, even cow chip tossing.
The event was sponsored by the Jackson County Tourism Council, and the Prairie Band Potawatomie Nation.
