FORT RILEY, Kan. (WIBW) -- Fort Riley soldiers and staff members were encouraged to live their dreams and build on the vision and goals of one of our country’s great leaders.
Master Sergeant Mark Jordan delivered the address during Fort Riley’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. Observance at the Riley Conference Center.
This observance honors and celebrates the life and accomplishments of one of the pioneers of the Civil Rights Movement
Jordan, a renowned speaker and lecturer for numerous church, youth and civic groups, told the crowd to keep pushing through life’s obstacles and live life beyond their expectations.
“We must believe that the path of racial justice is an avenue that we can build our homes upon now. We must use the hammer of history and the nail of hope and continue to build on Dr. King’s dream. We must use the tool of trust to push against the bitterness that comes with being victims of past hate,” Jordan said.
The theme for the celebration was “Remember, Celebrate, Act- A Day On, Not a Day Off.”
