Manhattan Woman Reported Missing On Trip To Hawaii Located

RILEY COUNTY, Kan. (WIBW) -- A Manhattan woman who was reported missing on a trip to Hawaii has been located.

On September 29, 2012, William and Alison Wisdom reported Alison’s mother, 63-year-old Benita Richards, missing to the Riley County Police Department. Richards lives with her daughter and son-in-law at a home on Beechwood Circle in Manhattan.

Lieutenant Josh Kyle, a spokesman for the Riley County Police Department, says Alison Wisdom dropped her mother off at the Kansas City International Airport on September 2, 2012 and Benita Richards traveled to Honolulu, Hawaii to search for jobs.

On September 19th, the Wisdoms say they stopped having contact with Richards via social media and have not been able to get in touch with her. Because they were worried, they contacted the Honolulu Police Department whose members advised the Wisdoms that they needed to file a missing person report with their local agency, the RCPD, first.

On October 2, 2012, Riley County police revealed that Richards was found in Hawaii. Officials say she had a medical situation and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. According to police, she lost her cell phone and was unable to immediately contact her family as she dealt with her medical problem.
