Manhattan Man Arrested After Bar Scuffle, Chase

MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) -- A Manhattan man was taken into custody after an altercation at a local bar and short police chase that ended in a nearby neighborhood.

Officers responded to the Blackstone Tavern in the Westloop Shopping Center at 2 AM on Friday, December 28, 2012 for a report of a fight.

Officials say Naim Alamin, 33, of Manhattan, was asked to leave the business and refused and fought with the people who escorted him out.

Responding officers arrived as Alamin was getting into his car and he left the parking lot at a high rate of speed, refusing to stop when the officers tried to pull him over.

Alamin crossed over Claflin Road and headed north on Beechwood Terrace. The brief pursuit ended when he reached a dead end in a cul-de-sac and hit a curb, disabling his vehicle.

He was arrested for DUI, Possession of Cocaine, Felony Fleeing and Eluding, Driving While Suspended, Refusal to Take a Chemical Breath Test and Battery.

Alamin’s bond was set at $6,000.
