1508 SW Buchanan, Topeka, Kansas
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Topeka Police say a man was shot to death just before midnight Monday at 1508 S.W. Buchanan, a few houses away from Robinson Middle School.
When they arrived, officers found 32-year-old Timothy Stone, with a life-threatening gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The shooting suspect was also taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police say the suspect is a 33-year-old male, who was confirmed to be the suspect, after fingerprints were found at the scene. They say there is no indication the suspect knew the victim, or any of the other three people home at the time.
Police say the suspect's motive was robbery. They say Stone was shot and that the other three people home were able to overpower the suspect, who ended up being shot.
Police say they do not believe there are other suspects. They also say they would like to interview the hospitalized suspect and that his identity may be released. They also say the suspect may be arrested and the case may be turned over to the district attorney's office.
A bullet hole could be seen at the home at 1508 S.W. Buchanan.
Detectives and Shawnee District Attorney Chad Taylor were at the address investigating, until about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.
