Man Shot During Attempted Car Jacking

Topeka, Kan (WIBW) - Police responded to a shooting late Sunday morning.

Friends and family tell 13 News that Jeremiah Brooks was shot in the shoulder when a man attempted to steal his car. It is unknown where the shooting took place but after he was shot, he drove to 1723 SE 31st Street where family and friends took care of him and transported him to the hospital. Cops believe that the injuries are non-life threatening.

Brooks was a basketball player at Highland Park High School and he graduated in 2010. He went on to play basketball at Cloud County Community College.
