Man Killed In Northeast Wichita House Fire


WICHITA, Kan. -- KAKE News reports a man in his 80s has died following a house fire Sunday morning in northeast Wichita.

KAKE News reports say firefighters were called around 8:45 a.m. to a house fire with a person possibly trapped inside in the 1500 block of North Erie, near 14th Street and Hillside. Smoke and flames were visible when crews arrived.

While conducting a search of the home, rescuers found the man. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim's son tells KAKE News that he was in the house at the time of the fire and tried to get his father out, but he was unable. He was not hurt.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, and a damage estimate has yet to be determined.
