TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Sentencing is set for a man arrested in the parking lot of the Topeka Hooters restaurant following a shooting.
Michael Whitfield pleaded no contest Friday to a reduced charge of attempted voluntary manslaughter. He will be sentenced August 16th.
The charge stems from a January shooting at an apartment complex near 13th and South Topeka Boulevard.
About an hour after the shooting, police say Whitfield and another man were involved in a police chase on I-70. The two ran from the vehicle at the Wanamaker Road exit and were later arrested in the restaurant parking lot.
