MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) -- A Manhattan man was taken into custody after police say he nearly hit officers with his car in Aggieville.
On Monday, September 3, 2012 between 2:08 AM- 2:37 AM, officers spotted 23-year-old Shane Johnson in Aggieville and officials say Johnson was obviously intoxicated.
When Johnson got in his car and started driving, officers tried to get him to stop the car and he sped off with several officers very close to the vehicle, including Sgt. Scott Hajek who was trying to prevent Johnson from driving away.
A spokesman for the Riley County Police Department says Johnson then drove recklessly through Aggieville before stopping his car and fleeing on foot. He was eventually apprehended at 8th Street and Laramie Street.
Johnson, who lives on Laramie Street, was arrested for Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, Interference with Law Enforcement, DUI, Driving While Revoked and Reckless Driving.
Officials say no one was injured during the incident.
