TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Pay increases are coming to employees of the Metropolitan Topeka Airport Authority.
It was among one topic discussed at Tuesday's board meeting.
Employees will see a 3% increase, beginning on January 1st.
Officials say the board recognized they don't have comparable wages. They say the increases needed to happen to retain employees.
"We pay less for the same work that's compensated at a higher rate in other entities, said Eric Johnson, President and Director of airports. "But what we are trying to do is close that gap or at least maintain the existing amount and not letting it grow wider."
The board also accepted a preliminary concept for new signs around the airport.
