TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- Kansas Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins and Missouri Senator Roy Blunt have joined together to introduce a bill to expand Americans' rights to record meetings with federal agencies.
The current Citizen Empowerment Act Law only allows individuals to record conversations with IRS officials.
The proposal from Jenkins and Blunt would expand that right to any federal executive agency employee. Individuals would no longer be required to provide 10 day advance notice to IRS employees or any federal employee regarding their intent to record conversations.
People also could record telephone conversations and executive agency employees would have to inform Americans about their right to record conversations.
