TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A local middle school got some exercise and helped an educator at the same time.
Eisenhower Middle School hosted a 5K walk and silent auction Friday afternoon. The event was hosted as a way to raise money for Julie Smoot -- a paraeducator at the school who is in need of a kidney transplant.
Silent auction items included a wreath, Washburn College bible, and K-State apparel.
Staff was encouraged to bring a $5 donation and students a $1 donation to benefit Smoot.
