Lobbyists Speak Out About Abortion Restriction Bills

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)- Two new abortion restriction bills have caused lobbyists to speak out publicly.

They held a press conference at the state house Tuesday morning focusing on a House and Senate abortion-restricting bill.

Lobbyists say the decision whether to have an abortion or not should be up to the woman and her family instead of politicians.

Lobbyists say that 1,600 Kansans have already signed in opposition of these bills. Both bills are headed to Governor Brownback's desk.

Legislators passed a bill late Friday that declares life begins at fertilization, while blocking tax breaks for abortion providers and banning abortions performed solely because of the baby's gender.
