TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A U.S. District Court judge has partially granted a motion from the City of Topeka in a Topeka Zoo veterinarian discrimination case.
The city's private attorney filed a motion seeking a ruling without the case going to trial.
The Topeka Capital-Journal reports Judge John Lungstrum ruled that Topeka Zoo veterinarian Shirley Llizo failed to show how city officials have repeatedly discriminated against employees. But the case will proceed to trial on Llizo's personal claims.
Llizo says she was fired in 2009 because of her race.
Llizo was re-hired at the zoo in 2010, and granted back-pay for the months she didn't work.
A jury trial is set for July 17 in U.S. District Court.
