Lightning Knocks Out Hospital Power, Starts House Fire In Emporia

EMPORIA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Lightning from storms overnight into Wednesday morning caused problems for some in Emporia. 13 News radio partner, KVOE, reported Wednesday that power was knocked out to Newman Regional Health at about 1 a.m. The health center was running on a generator power in the early morning hours.

KVOE also reported that a lightning strike started a small fire at a home at 1244 Road 130.

No injuries were reported Wednesday morning.

Emporia and Lyon County have also dealt with flooding in the last week because of all the rainfall.
