TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- It's a lesser charge for a Topeka woman accused in the death of Jack Stanley, 79, in Topeka's eleventh homicide of the year.

Angel M. Joslin, 38, of Topeka, now faces second degree murder, arson and two drug charges, along with a cruelty to animals charge, for Stanley's dog who died of smoke inhalation as a result of the fire.

Stanley's daughter says Joslin hit him in the head and then lit him on fire in his bedroom. She says her father had been friends with Joslin for years and was ultimately killed for his kindness.

A funeral expense fund is set up in Stanley's name at any Envista Credit Union location.
