GREAT OVERLAND STATION -- The Great Overland Station announces the arrival of the Union Pacific's legendary steam locomotive 844, Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at around 10:15 AM. The Union Pacific is celebrating its 150th Anniversary by sharing the company's rich history with the communities it serves.
This leg of the trip will see the 844 traveling through Kansas, continuing on to Colorado, before making a turn to the north and arriving back in Omaha to complete its journey.
The historic locomotive will spend about half an hour at the Great Overland Station on Tuesday, with a planned departure at approximately 10:45 AM. During the time the engine will be on display, the Great Overland Station is offering discounted Railroad Festival tickets. While advance tickets are normally $6 each, between 9:30 and 11:00 AM on Tuesday, tickets will be sold for $4 each to visitors. This is a great opportunity to see a rich part of Kansas history and receive a discount on a fun family day.
