LEAVENWORTH, Kan. (WIBW) -- Investigators from the U.S. Penitentiary at Leavenworth are looking into animal cruelty accusations.
Prison officials, and we at 13 News, got an anonymous phone call claiming a prison guard had ordered inmates to drown stray cats on the property last weekend.
Prison officials say they do not condone animal abuse, and they're working to determine the legitimacy of the accusation.
If they find sufficient cause, the case will be turned over to internal affairs.
