Lawrence Man Hit & Killed While Standing In Median On I-35

OSAGE COUNTY, Kan. (WIBW)-- KVOE Radio reported that a Lawrence man is dead after an accident nearly 40 miles northeast of Emporia.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says Travis Sanders, 23, of Lawrence was driving a car northbound on I-35 when he hit a deer shortly after 7 p.m. Sunday night.

Sanders got out of the car, which was partially stranded in the median and left lane.

Sanders was standing in the median when a car driven by Clayton Richardson, 21, of Leawood attempted to avoid the stranded car.

Richardson's car veered into the median and hit Sanders. Richardson was not hurt.
