WICHITA, Kan. (WIBW) -- The rain's still falling here in northeast Kansas, but it seemed to be coming down much harder in southern Kansas earlier in the day.

Just check out this landspout that was caught on tape by a security camera in Wichita around 2:45 p.m. Meteorologist Jay Prater at our sister station, KAKE, got his hands on it and shared it on his Facebook page.

And, if you're wondering what a landspout is - like I did - here's what the National Weather Service said:

a tornado that does not arise from organized storm-scale rotation and therefore is not associated with a wall cloud (visually) or a mesocyclone (on radar). Landspouts typically are observed beneath Cbs or towering cumulus clouds (often as no more than a dust whirl), and essentially are the land-based equivalents of waterspouts.
