TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Kansas secretary of State Kris Kobach earned honors Thursday for his office's support of the Kansas National Guard.
The Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve presented Kobach with its "Patriot Award." It recognizes employers who support the National Guard and Reserves through policies which support employee participation in the volunteer forces.
Kobach says businesses and organizations play a critical role in the nation's defense. He says public and private employers must ensure job security for the men and women who leave to serve in order for the system to work.
Next week, Kobach travels to Cimarron in southwest Kansas for the first election to be held under the state's new voter identification requirements. It's a local vote on a sales tax to fund a new swimming pool.
