TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)__The snow storm here in Kansas has been a serious matter. On Thursday, the Kansas Highway Patrol responded to 1,400 motorist assist related service calls.
Now that a lot of the roads have been cleared for safer travel, it was time for the kids to enjoy the mounds of snow left behind...
It's the two words kids typically love to hear when they wake up,"snow day!"
Children had very little difficulty finding ways to occupy their time while class had been cancelled a second straight day in school districts throughout Topeka. Many took to the hill located near the former Quinton Heights Elementary School.
Throughout the years this hill has gained a big reputation. So much so that parents that used to ride this hill when they were younger, now bring their kids.
Mother and sledder Sarah White said, "It's the fastest and the snow packs down really well because their are so many people. It's just a lot of fun here."
While many children in Topeka enjoy their four day weekend, it would be understandable for some to begin to miss the classroom, but plenty of the kids enjoy the snow hills a bit more at the moment.
