TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The two men arrested following a car chase that led to the discovery of kidnapping victims are now officially charged.
20-year-old Lashon Stewart and 24-year-old Jakeem Coopwood were booked into the Shawnee County Jail Wednesday. Each face two counts of kidnapping - flight from crime and one count of aggravated robbery.
Both are being held on $150,000 bond.
The men were arrested early Monday in Kansas City. The Kansas Highway Patrol says a pursuit ended with the men ditching their vehicle and running. Authorities then discovered two people in the trunk. Topeka Police say the man and woman had been carjacked from near SE 6th and Arter in Topeka hours earlier.
Stewart and Coopwood were found in the area and taken into custody a short time later.
