Kansas State Student Robbed On Campus, Arrests Made

MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) -- Two Manhattan men are facing charges after police say they robbed a Kansas State University student on campus, getting away with only a few dollars before they were caught.

Sergeant Jessica Brooks, Interim Support Services Commander for the Kansas State University Police Department, tells WIBW that a student was walking in the D1 parking lot near Anderson Avenue and Denison Avenue (across from the old stadium) just before 11 PM Monday night when he was approached by 22-year-old Cole Brun and 26-year-old James Norton.

Police say Brun and Norton demanded the student’s money, robbed him of $3 and left. Sergeant Brooks says the victim gave a description of the suspects to officers and they started searching the area. The duo was later spotted and arrested. According to reports, Brun was captured on Claflin Road and Norton was caught on College Heights.

No weapons were used in the incident and the victim was not injured.

Brun and Norton are not students at the university, according to officials. Riley County Police Department arrest reports list Manhattan addresses for both.

They were each charged with robbery and taken to the Riley County Jail. Their bonds were set at $4,000.

Mug shots of the suspects are not available because it is the Riley County Police Department's policy not to release booking photos of inmates.
