Kansas Soldier Killed In Afghanistan

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- A Soldier from Overland Park died while in he line of duty in Afghanistan on Thursday.

Governor Sam Brownback issued a statement yesterday in response to loss of Private First Class Cale Miller saying:

"Lt. Governor Colyer and I are profoundly saddened to hear of the loss of private miller. He is a hero and will forever remain in the hearts of the kansans and the americans for whom he gave his life serving. No words can as-suage the bereavement felt by all those that loved Cale. Our thoughts and prayers remain with his family and loved ones in this difficult time."

Private Miller was 23, and died of wounds suffered from enemy action on May 24th in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan.

Brownback said he will issue an order to lower flags in Kansas to half-staff on the day of Miller's funeral.
