WICHITA, Kan. (WIBW) - A Wichita teacher of 17 years is having her license revoked for failing to promptly report suspected child abuse.
51-year-old Donna Ford ford surrendered her license to the Kansas Board of Education Tuesday.
Ford most recently taught at Cleaveland Elementary School in Wichita. School officials would not discuss specifics of the case, but Kansas National Education Association general counsel David Schauner said the punishment was too severe.
Ford gave up her license as a condition of her resignation with early retirement-benefits, she said in a letter to the board
Observers close to the case say it is highly unusual and possibly the first of its kind in Kansas.
