(WIBW) - The Air Force announced Tuesday that corrective action would be taken in matters surrounding a contract that excluded bids from U.S.-based Hawker Beechcraft.

The Afghanistan Light Air Support contract was awarded to a company building up to 20 AT-6 aircraft in Brazil. Lawmakers have consistently raised question as to why Hawker Beechcraft was left out of the contract competition.

"I fought for Hawker to get a fair shake and I am pleased the Air Force has set aside their decision," Sen. Jerry Moran said in reacting to the news.

Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins agreed.

"All that is asked of the contract award process is transparency and fair competition, and the unexplained exclusion of Hawker Beechcraft's bid, so late in the process, failed to meet both of these standards," she said.
