TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Kansas is getting more than a half million dollars from settlements over insurance company death benefit practices.
Insurance Commissioner Sandy Praeger announced the agreements on Tuesday.
They involve seven insurance companies, includingING, New York Life, Lincoln National, TransAmerica, TIAA-CREF, Midland, and Aviva and Global Atlantic.
Under the settlements, the companies will pay a total of $510,000.
They also agree to use the social security death master file database to identify deceased life insurance policyholders, so they can pay beneficiaries promptly.
