Kansas Truck Team Wins National Competition

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The Kansas state truck team has some celebrating to do.

The state's team won honors as the highest scoring team at the 2013 Bendix National Truck Driving Championships in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Gary Harms, a Walmart Transportation truck driver from Olathe, was named grand champion. He also placed first in the Sleeper Berth Class.

Don Logan from Eskridge who drives for FedEx Freight, won the Vehicle Condition Award.

Don and Jeffrey Thompson also of FedEx Freight had perfect scores on the written exam.

And another FedEx driver, Daniel Jones of Topeka, placed third in the Straight Truck Class.

422 professional drivers from across the US competed for the awards.
