WELLINGTON, Kan. (AP) _ The body of a 14-year-old boy from the Haysville area was recovered from Wellington Lake after he apparently drowned on Memorial Day.
Wellington Police Chief Tracy Heath says the teen was with friends at the lake Monday afternoon when he went under the water and did not come back up. His body was recovered Tuesday morning.
Winds that were gusting up to 37 mph might have contributed to the boy's disappearance.
