TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A new registry aimed at stopping roofing scams following events like storms is up and running.
Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt announced the first registered contractors are now listed online. Under the new Kansas Roofing Contractor Registration Act, roofing contractors must obtain a roofing contractor registration certificate from the Kansas Attorney General in order to legally provide commercial or residential roofing services for a fee in Kansas.
The Attorney General's office says the law will help consumers avoid doing business with unscrupulous or fly by night operators who do not comply with registration requirements.
