Kansas Juvenile Correction Complex Is Assisting Young Offenders

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-A new educational program is preparing young offenders for future jobs.

The classroom is located behind bars at the Kansas Juvenile Correction Complex.

The facility has teamed up with Fort Scott Community College to launch an environmental water technology program.

Instructors will teach courses to prepare KJCC residents for employment once they're released.

Directors say the goal is to enroll96 students within the next two years .

It's funded through a grant from the U.S. Department of Labor.
