Kansas Guard Members To Assist With Inauguration In Washington

From The Kansas National Guard

The Kansas National Guard has deployed 16 people to Washington, D.C., in support of the inauguration of President Barack Obama Jan. 21.

One soldier has deployed from Joint Forces Headquarters Kansas, Topeka, to provide Future Operations/Plans support. One soldier from the 287th Sustainment Brigade, headquartered in Wichita, is providing Geospatial Information System/Common Operating Picture support. One airman from the 190th Air Refueling Wing, Topeka, is providing Public Affairs support and the 184th Intelligence Wing, Wichita, is sending a Single Pallet Expeditionary Kitchen and 13 personnel to operate it.

The District of Columbia National Guard put out a Request for Information/Request for Assistance to the other 53 states and territories for various capabilities required for the inauguration through the Joint Information Exchange Environment system. Approximately 5,000 National Guardsmen from across the nation are expected to be in Washington to provide support for the inauguration.
