(WIBW) - The Kansas Insurance Department will soon receive a check for more than $107,000.
The money comes from an insurance settlement with John Hancock Life Insurance. Insurance regulators found concerns in the way the company was notifying beneficiaries of death benefits.
The settlement totals $13.3 million and involved 20 states. John Hancock must also use the Social Security Administration's death master file to find beneficiaries in order to make more timely payments.
Kansas' portion of the settlement will be deposited into the state's general fund.
