Kansans Show American Pride at 17th Annual Spirit of Kansas

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -There were plenty of amazing events all over Kansas on Wednesday to celebrate Independence Day. One in particular was the 17th annual Spirit of Kansas at Lake Shawnee. The activities actually began at eight in the morning.

Families piled into their vehicles for this years Spirit of Kansas at Lake Shawnee to celebrate our nations Independence Day with live music, face and body paint and even car and water skiing shows. Overall, there were plenty enjoyable activities for families take advantage of.

Attendee. Chandlin Claiborne, took in all the sights from the event saying, " They have jewelry and all sorts of fun stuff. Bouncing machines and all sorts of fun. It's a great time to be with family and come out and have fun."

One of the early attention getters of this years Spirit of Kansas was the car show which provided fine automobiles for onlookers to fantasize about, but the sprakling old and new rides weren't just for show, the event was put on by the optimist club we put for charity.

Danielle Wolf was appreciative to trade time usually spent at work for time with her families. "It's absolutely wonderful to spend time with my kids and I enjoy every minute."

The main event concluded with the grand finale of fireworks at 10 o'clock.
