Kansans Water Ski For The Championship

TOPEKA, Kan (WIBW)__ On the first day of the Olympic Games, a championship of a different kind took to the water at Lake Shawnee.

Competitors showed off their skills in the annual State Water-Ski Championship Tournament at the Shawnee Boat and Ski Club
Saturday morning.

Participants were rated on their tricks behind a boat.

They say it's never too late to get involved in the sport but say the skill and dedication it requires, makes them wish it were an Olympic sport.

Sunday participants will be back on the lake showing off their jumping skills.
