TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The Kansas Children's Discovery Center marked a big milestone Tuesday.
The center welcomed its 100,000th visitor shortly after opening Tuesday. He's four-year old Jayce from Olathe, who was visiting with his grandparents.
The KCDC at Gage Park hit the mark a little more than a year after its June 1, 2011 ribbon cutting.
Executive Director Joanne Morrell says the center has been busy the past couple weeks with the hot weather. Even if you've been before, she suggests paying a return visit as work continues on their outdoor area.
Morrell says additions will be completed as money becomes available. She says Kansas State University architecutral students are currently working on an outdoor learning lab. Rock climbing areas and gardens also are in the works.
In addition to its 100,000th visitor, the KCDC also is celebrating the 10,000 volunteer hours given by people over the past year.
