TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - High schoolers looking for a head-start checked in at the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library this evening.

Dr. Roger Schieferecke, Associate Director for Student Services with the Kansas Academy of Mathematics and Science met with eager students seeking a challenge, and their families.

The academy is recruiting 40 students from across the state for its fifth year of the program.

The academy enrolls students at Fort Hays State University while they are still in their junior and senior high school years. They earn a high school diploma, but - provided they are from a public high school - get their tuition and fees paid for over those two years.
