KHP Investigates Reports Of Shots Heard Near Eisenhower Building

The Kansas Highway Patrol reports that no evidence of shots being fired was found after the sound of gunshots was reported near the Eisenhower Building in Topeka Tuesday.

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- The Kansas Highway Patrol briefly issued an alert Tuesday after receiving reports of shots fired near the Eisenhower Building.

Officers investigated the reports and found no evidence of gunshots. The e-mail alerts sent out Tuesday by KHP are listed below.

Multiple officers in the area of 635 Harrison found no signs of shots being fired and found no suspects matching the description given in the Capital area. As always, be aware of your surroundings when leaving buildings.

Capitol Police received reports of gunshots heard in the area of the Eisenhower Building. Officers are in the area at this time to investigate.

Seen running from 635 Harrison was a black male wearing a black t shirt and black stocking cap and a hispanic male wearing a blue hoodie pulled over his head.

Use caution when outside your office in this area. Topeka Police had the same type of report at Topeka High School just prior to our reports. Again, use caution when leaving a building in the area.
