Release from Atchison County Sheriff Jack Laurie

11:16 a.m. Friday
The Atchison County Courthouse has reopened. There was nothing detected by the search of the Kansas Highway Patrol K-9 Teams or the search by other officers. We appreciate the fast response and assistance from the Atchison Police Department, Atchison Fire Department, and the Kansas Highway Patrol.

9:53 a.m. Friday

The Atchison County District Court Office received a telephone call at approximately 8:15 AM today from an unknown male who stated that he had received a call from another subject in Colorado stating that there were two pipe bombs placed in the courthouse in Atchison. The subject did not give any other information. The Kansas Highway Patrol is on scene with Bomb Detecting K-9. We have no recording of the phone call as it was not placed to our dispatch center. I will send an update if any other information becomes available.
