TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The Hwy. 24 Oakland Expressway interchanges and North Topeka Boulevard will both see road closures starting Tuesday, while traffic on a stretch of SW 21st will see a lane reduction for the day.
Just east of the north side of town, all ramps and acceleration lanes at the U.S. 24 and K-4 Oakland Expressway interchanges will be closed for pavement repair and resurfacing work. Marked detours will be provided.
KDOT says the plan is for t least one northbound and southbound ramp to remain open at all times, but drivers still should expect major delays during peak travel times and must use alternate routes during the closures.
The work will take place from 7:30 am to 7:30 pm and should be completed by September 14th.
A longer-term project will have North Topeka Boulevard closed to all through traffic between Paramore and Gordon. Crews are in the midst of a street replacement project.
Drivers will be able to access local businesses, but will need to use the marked detour on Gordon and Lyman streets and Kansas Avenue to get around the closure.
All cross traffic between Paramore and Gordon will also be closed.
The project is set to be complete by mid-November.
Finally, a one-day repair is scheduled to close a westbound lane on Southwest 21st between Chelsea and Belle starting at 6 am Tuesday.
Crews will be doing sewer inlet repair work. The lane should be back open by Tuesday evening.
