MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW)__The atmosphere inside Bramlage Coliseum was electric. Fans enjoyed a record breaking year for the Wildcats men's basketball team.

The team's 25 regular season wins and 14 conference wins on the year are both school records.

For the first time since 1977 the K-State basketball team is celebrating a conference championship, a stat that players on the team aren't taking lightly.

Sophomore Thomas Gipson said, "It means alot because we know it hasn't been done since 1977 and we worked hard for this."

The wildcats won't have too much time to celebrate, with the conference tournament just days away, and an NCAA bid on the horizon, hey hope cutting down the nets at bramlage is practice for more championships to come.

Kansas State is just the 11th Bowl Championship Series school since 1996 to win conference championships in football and basketball during the same season.
