Junction City Declares Snow Emergency

JUNCTION CITY, Kan. (WIBW) -- The City of Junction City is ordering drivers not to park on the streets of emergency routes starting at midnight Monday night when a Snow Emergency goes into effect until further notice, city officials said.

After the declaration of a snow emergency, all vehicles parked along marked snow routes must be moved within two hours, according to a statement from the city. Any vehicle still parked on an emergency snow route after then may be removed.

The emergency came after the National Weather Service predicted the city would receive between 2-3 inches of snow by 6:00 a.m. Between 6:00 a.m. and noon, another four inches is possible and up to three more inches by 4:00 p.m.

In addition, winds of 15-25 mph with gusts of up to 35 mph could cause drifting and plowing snow.
