TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- A Shawnee County judge told convicted murderer Stephen Macomber on Tuesday that Macomber is a danger to society, and should be locked up for as long as possible.
Judge David Debenham imposed the maximum potential sentence, more than 54 years in prison, for the 44-year-old.
Macomber was convicted in Januray of second-degree murder for the killing of Ryan Lofton, 26.
Macomber will serve this sentence consecutively to his 80-year sentence in Marshall County, where he kidnapped a woman, and shot a sheriff's deputy.
Macomber represented himself in the trial, and said Tuesday that he will not represent himself on appeal.
