LAWRENCE, Kan. (WIBW) -- An inmate at the Douglas County Correctional Facility has died.
Douglas County officials say it happened Saturday morning (5/12). They say the inmate experienced a medical emergency. Corrections staff administered CPR, and the inmate was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
State statute says all in-custody deaths are to be investigated by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
This is the first in-custody death at the Douglas County Correctional Facility. The inmate's name has not been released.
