Increased Gas Prices Frustrate Topekans

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-The national average price of gasoline increased to 9.5 cents a gallon this past week .

Gas prices are rising rapidly in the nations heartland and its mainly due to refinery problems that have reduced the supply from four refineries to the mid-continent and Great Lakes regions
and Kansans have a lot to say about it.

"When I was little, you could fill up for 20 bucks and now it's 40 bucks! It is ridiculous," said Topeka citizen, Rebecca Dodds.

"We've been saving up for vacation and we thought we would be able to participate in the 5 hour drive with a SUV. It's definitely going hit us pretty hard," said Topeka citizen, Danielle Martin.

Minnesota has the highest priced gas in the United States .
