I-470 Back Open After Young Woman Jumps From Bridge

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - All lanes are open on I-470 after a woman jumped from the 25th street bridge in Topeka Thursday evening.

Officers were called to the scene of I-470 and 25th street just before 6:00 p.m. on reports of a suicide.

Officials say a 17 year old female from Topeka jumped from the 25th street bridge and was struck by at least one vehicle traveling in the west southbound lane on I-470.

The woman's name is not being released pending notification of family members.

A short time later, at 6:30 p.m., officers responded to the same area for a two car hit-and-run accident.

Southbound lanes of I-470 were closed for more than three hours Thursday evening.
