TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Topeka Police were visibly president outside funeral services Tuesday for a Topeka developer found dead last week.

Hundreds of people turned out to pay their respects to 39-year-old Corey Brown at Fellowship Bible Church.

13 News was told some of the officers present were on duty, while several were hired as private security.

Brown is vice president of the company that developed and owns Hudson Crossing Shopping Center, near SE 15th and Adams. Two clerks at the Mo's Express convenience store in the center were shot and wounded during a November holdup, while an employee of the center's liquor store was killed in a Christmas Eve robbery.

Brown disappeared last Tuesday. His body was found Thursday in a rural area of Douglas County. Authorities say it's a homicide. In addition, a vehicle belonging to the owner of Mo's Express was found burning Tuesday night near a Kansas River boat ramp on NE Seward.

Topeka Police say they are investigating how any of the incidents might be related.

A scholarship fund is set up for Brown's three children through Capital City Bank.
