Despite the chilly temps this morning, well over 300 participants walked to support the National Alliance on Mental Illness at Gage Park.

Mental illness affects one in four Americans every year.

Participants were overwhelmed at this years turnout and felt Topeka's support.

Melissa Conner, Miss Kansas U.S. International, deals with a form of mental illness and enjoyed the walk today saying, "It felt great to know that all these people knew what I was going through and it was
heartwarming and really touching.

NAMI Walks is celebrating their 11th year and is the largest mental awareness and fundraising event in the U.S.
